Introducing the agentic workforce for data, ML and AI platforms

Why NextEraLabs now delivers data platforms with a team of 18 AI agent roles, and how people stay in charge of every change.

NextEraLabs has spent years delivering end-to-end data projects: warehouses, lakehouses, pipelines, governance. The work has always had the same shape. A small part is design and judgment. A large part is careful, repetitive execution: converting stored procedures, writing tests, documenting lineage, tuning queries, watching what breaks at night.

That second part is what an agentic workforce is for.

A team, not a chatbot

We do not put a chat window on top of your warehouse. We put a team to work on it: 18 agent roles, each with a job description, the tools for that job and a deliverable your team can review.

The roles are stacked the way a platform is stacked. Platform agents design the architecture, provision infrastructure as code and keep it secure, reliable and affordable. Data agents migrate, build pipelines, model, test and govern. ML agents build features, train models and run them in production. AI agents prepare knowledge, build assistants and evaluate them.

The same 18 roles also form four crews that follow the platform lifecycle: Build, Develop, Run and Improve. Improve feeds back into Build, so the platform keeps getting better instead of slowly ageing.

People stay in charge

Four rules make this acceptable to an enterprise:

  • It runs in your environment. Your tenant, your data, your access model.
  • Every change needs human approval. Agents propose through pull requests and tickets. People merge.
  • Everything is auditable. Each action, query and decision is logged.
  • It is platform-native. It works with the tools you already run.

One workforce, three clouds

The workforce works natively on AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and on the open-source stack underneath them. Single-cloud, multi-cloud or hybrid makes no difference to how the roles are defined.

Where to start

Start with one role where the work is safe to hand over, and add the next when your team trusts the first. The frequently asked questions cover the practical details, and the workforce reference lists every role, what it does and what it hands back.
